B.2. Centre for Next Generation Localisation appoints Professor of Machine Translation

The Centre for Next Generation Localisation (CNGL) has appointed Qun Liu as Professor of Machine Translation (MT) at Dublin City University. Liu will serve as principal investigator for CNGL's Integrated Language Technologies research track, and he will head a team of MT researchers at CNGL and the National Centre for Language Technology.

C.1. TAUS open source machine translation tutorial

TAUS, the translation innovation think tank and platform for industry-shared services, has created an online tutorial for the open source statistical machine translation toolkit Moses. The tutorial is funded through the MosesCore project.

TAUS has also launched a common translation services API to be adopted by the industry. The application programming interface (API) is complementary to all standardization initiatives related to translation and localization. Web APIs offer the ability to simplify the process of interacting with translation resources and services while allowing a complex task to be broken down into several small and simple requests.
